Performing Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) is one of the best ways to seek forgiveness of one’s sins, but there is an even easier way, especially if you can’t afford to perform Hajj. Recite your tasbih (prayer beads (SubhanAllah, Alhumdulillah, Allah hu Akbar) as follows and end tasbih with the dua described below.
Narrated Abû Hurayrah radhiAllâhu `anhu: Allâh’s Apostle sallAllâhu `alayhi wa sallam said:
If anyone glorifies Allâh after every prayer thirty-three times [SubhanAllah], and praises Allâh thirty-three times [Alhamdulillah], and declares His Greatness thirty-three times [Allah hu Akbar], ninety-nine times in all, and then to complete a hundred, say: “There is no god but Allah, having no partner with Him, to Him belongs sovereignty and to Him praise is due, and He is the Master over everything,” Arabic transliteration: “Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer“. Their sins will be forgiven even if these are as abundant as the foam of the sea. [Sahîh Muslim]
